Got the trailer on the ice yesterday.  Decided to put it on Katepwa - but only managed two small walleye from noon-3.  Fished Lutherland from 3:30-5 and only caught two small walleye.  Pretty slow day.   Drove all four lakes just to see the traffic on them.  Echo and Pasqua look to be the most popular with many small "villages".  I'll probably head out to Katepwa again tomorrow.

Got out on the South Side of Katepwa to my little honey hole, fished only from 9-1:30 as had a get together we needed to be at later but fished 30-60ft of water and hit into 14 walters, 30 some perch and a couple pike.  Wasn't bad...nice to be back on the home lake.

Heading out to Echo tomorrow morning for the first rip of the year.  Hoping I catch something more than a cooler of empty beer cans!

Heading out to lutherland on Pasqua New Year's Day where I put my shack on at Xmas.  How's the fishing been there within the last few days??

I put my shack right on the drop off from the point. Goes from 12 feet to almost 30 pretty quick. Should be a good spot.

Was out at Lutherland yesterday, buddy caught 1 small eye and we had a couple nibbles and that was it in about 2 hours! ??? Too cold to fish out of the shack!!! :'( So we packed up and went over to Sandy Beach on the East side, just to be out of the little wind that there was. Buddy caught a couple tiny eyes and a couple small perch. I got skunked! :'(  Hope to get out on Friday when it warms up. ;D

Over the years I've never had the best luck on Katepwa. When I have, it's been on the other side of the lake by camp monahan.

Echo was alright.
Caught 11 perch, 3 walleye in about 3 hours straight off the boat launch on the main beach.

We went out to mission today got on at the lebret boat launch, drove across the lake to where the shacks are. Lots of snow on the ice. Almost got stuck a few times. But the fishing was good. Lots of small fish a good sized walleye and marking ton. Not bad for 2 hours! But we called it a day early when the wind picked up.

Was out at the shack at Lutherland in Pasqua. Very slow, caught some small walleye and a couple whitefish.  Hope to go back out tomorrow as long as this wind dies down.

Tomorrows mission hit 6 different locations along the north side of pasqua and echo. Was out on Pasqua at sundown tonight. Conditions at that moment were perfect. Had no problem popping onto the ice in my car on both pasqua and echo lake this evening. NW wind tomorrow, less gusty predictions on the lake than the city tomorrow. they got alot less snow out there or it clear blew over the north side over to the middle and south. Today was just a quick test for access and to test the new FinBore III. Night and day when comparing it to the Rapala Nordic ( bought as the canadian tire Sub- Zero, same auger rebranded) auger. 24" of ice easily under two minutes without any effort. The Nordic isn't a bad auger just does not react well to a the little carbide quick sharpeners. It will be a good backup when I get around to resetting the blades. Dont feel like coughin up $30 for new ones.Tomorrow is going to be a good day of hole hopping and chuckin the Humminbird under the ice to see what lurks ;)

What is everyone using for bait? I've tried shrimp, which seems to work well this year as it always does but I haven't tried minnow heads as they are all sold out, how is the bite with minnow heads?

I would imagine he is talking about the shrimp ring, that's what I use!  ;D
Me and a buddy caught about 60 perch yesterday, half went back as they were too small. Also iced about 16 eyes, but only one was a keeper.  ??? That was on Echo!  ;D

Walmart has bags of frozen shrimp for around $8, last you all winter. Works good for perch.

Made it out to Mission, only a few hours until the weather drove us off the lake because it was a long drive home from the lake. Managed to get a few smaller eyes and one decent 2 lbs, too bad we couldn't of stayed out longer! Here's a question though... Has anyone found the perch on the Quapelle lakes yet this year? And I mean seriously found it. Not one here or there, I mean big numbers.

Thinking about taking the trailer out to Mission by Lebret on Friday if it warms up, gonna leave it on land for the time being, On Saturday we plan on hauling the Snobear out to see if we can find a decent place for the trailer. Has anyone been out and have any luck on that side of Mission this year? We like that side because we always sleep over and we are Members at Lebrets eastside service club (Bar and Restaurant). and we can snobear to the ketepewa side. which is usually pretty good fishing but we like staying on Mission side.

We braved it out at Echo today. Once the pop up and heater were up it was fine out there. We managed a few perch, one good eater walleye and a couple tulibees. Bite was very light. Rattle spoons seemed to be all that worked, tipped with a minnow head.

Hey Badguy, I use the frozen shrimps I buy at superstore. I don't bother buying the big ones. I usually use only a small chunk at a time, so a bag will last me all winter. Last year perch loved the stuff, but this year I haven't caught one. Just walleyes.
