Next year is a long way away, but I will take your suggestion into consideration.

I'm actually thinking about going to 6 or 7 species for adults and kids, I think the kiddo's should have equal opportunity to win. :)
I also think that the kids age range should be up'd also.
In most states kids fish free up to their 16th birthday, which then they are required to buy a fishing license.
So I was thinking that the kids age range should be UNDER 16.
It's hard for a 13, 14, 15 year old kid to compete with the adults, give them more of a chance.

What do you think about upping the kids age limit to UNDER 16 and not the under 13 that is stated now?

Thanks TT for taking the time to work your butt off again this year.  I do like the idea to hold a vote for X=amount of species then you can throw in a few wild cards so to speak.

I like the idea of a vote.. NY does a bragging rights tourney and we're working on voting on species right now.  Can't hurt things!

I think the age group was fine at 13yrs old and under.  A 14, 15, 16 yr old shouldnt have any problem cometing with an adult. Its 95% luck anyways
Now a 6 or 7yr old competing with a 14, 15, yr old thats a little bit lop sided.
2012 Burbot 1st place
2015 Burbot 1st place
2016 Lake Trout 1st place
2017 Burbot 3rd place

I have an idea for next season already, maybe run a vote with all the species and the top 10 be the tourney fish? Everyone on the site can vote for there top choice too be in the tourney, seems that would be fair, I would volunteer too make the thread...
Matt

I can see why you are a little upset  ;D

Ahhh man, if you could find some slack water for ocean runners we might want to re-evaluate that rule ;) we usually land a few +36" B runs (trolling).  Finding them under the ice is the challenge.  In reality if someone actually found a way to get an ocean run through the ice, I would buy them a prize personally.

Gill the same as a crappie? First time in the tourney and was looking to tackle the togue, pickeral, and perch titles but perch is out, and no lls leaves me little to work with. But I started jigging more last year so if they are the same then I will have to travel to take the title.

Within a 3 hour drive(SE Pa) I'm limited to bluegill/sunfish, crappie, bass, pickerel or perch if they were still in LOL. And while not loaded with huge numbers of big ones I'd have a shot with that group. Walleye and pike are so limited that I have a better chance of winning the lottery than even seeing one caught thru the ice. Burbot and lakers do not exist in my waters period. Brook + rainbow trout I could have a shot at but I grew tired of hearing "we will stock less but they will be bigger" (they got it half right) that I no longer buy the stamp.

So really I have a shot at 4 fish out of 10(yes I could drive farther or go out of state)..........But you know what I'd enter even if I only had 1 fish on the list - it's free, takes 5min to register and you never know !!!!

THANKS TIM for your time + effort
