What is your (most) favorite thing that you love about ICE FISHING,just one thing. To me it is watching that spring bobber bounce. Just love seeing that little spring move ever so slightly. That is my favorite, but I enjoy it all. Jerry

Drilling the first grid of holes on a crisp, cool morning and watching the sunrise. Then it would have to be watching the mark on my MarCum slowly rise up and then I am putting a fish top-side

Hard to say... Coming up tight on a big fish on the jigging rod, when using a big Chubby Darter and having the drag start to scream!!!

Sitting around a fire on a cold cloudy day with a cold glass of wine and turning around to see a flag standing straight up.

Being an old timer with 50+ years on the ice, hitting a lake that I haven't been on in a few years, but I still know it. Relatively slow trip but taking decent fish 2 or 3+ times faster than the youthful local experts when they stroll over and ask what I'm doing different. Show and explain in detail the approach and technique, they're puzzled and consider it momentarily, then tell me it's not the established way to catch fish on this lake, it appears I'm going about it wrong. They storm off when another nice fish gets tossed on the ice as they sit back down and glare/mumble at me. Hard to keep from busting out in laughter, only hope they consider the info and give the out side the box approaches a chance one day. We're a helpful bunch by nature but sometimes you need to shake your head and simply laugh a bit at those not yet ready to assess the situation. Truly, predawn through sunup, the anti-cabin fever aspect and actually being able to still get up and enjoy going

Sunrise on my favorite fishing spot all alone and thinking about the ole timer who showed me this spot who has since passed on. All the while a wolf howls in the background and the mountains in the distance begin to appear as the light hits them.

The first moment I get out there. It's usually a night of preparation, or sometimes an entire week of nights, then going to sleep early, then waking up SUPER early, then driving to who knows where, getting to the lake just before dawn, getting out on the ice, and then... I am there and can finally take a minute to relax and soak it all in. Many, many hours of work, preparation, then with all my gear out there I usually sit on my sled, maybe have a smoke or finish my coffee and just sit and watch the sun come up... that is my favorite moment. Then it's mad work for the next few hours again, setting up the portable, drilling holes, setting traps, setting up the heater and flasher...

The fresh ice cold morning air, drilling holes and seeing that flag pop. I love everything about this sport.
Sometimes its the days with a bunch of guys haring out fishing together bs'n . or days by yourself just out fishing and day dreaming.
Pulling in a fat gill or a nice crappie
Watching the vex lite up, its all good!!

I love that feeling you get when you set the hook on a good fish knowing that you have light line on and it could pop off at any moment .
