Brain fart, I didn't realize the set date was December 28th, I will not be able to make it the 28th, two reasons, I have to work that day until 4:00PM in St. Catharines, #2 it is my birthday that day and I have plans to go with a couple friends to the Gentlemen Club and Casino in Niagara Falls that evening.

Hope you guys get the ice and have a great time.

I don't think it's really set in stone, by the sounds of it we'll just be getting safe ice by then, what's a good date for you guys?

Guys what ever I will still let you know when we have ice, the 28th is a Saturday to tell the truth Fridays are better for me..  And tends to be less crowded.. I work a four day 40 hour week, Afternoons  I am pissed they don't open Orangeville Res before Jan 1 i drove by today I bet it is fish able..   It is a nice spot for Pike and easy, close to home for me anyway.. Have any of you ever fished it. Island Lake .. Good starter spot and if you have kids it is so nice with the clean Heated bathrooms ,  Hot chocolate.. they drill holes for you and rent solid huts.. Any way just putting it out there for the Few who are in that situation.   Close to Toronto..

VB is being fished now , but rain is coming on the weekend, It could make things better.. I would bet we are good for the 28th.. Fingers crossed..  I would take 4 inches, but  if there are a bunch of folks though that means we shouldn't stand all together for a group shot on the ice. That could get tragic.   That would make the You Tube if it was  on Vid..

I was fishing VB on Dec 18th, Hut operators were bringing their huts out to the fishing grounds, and sleds/ATV's were all over.. I didnt see less than 5" thick ice..  With the cold days and nights this week, the ice will be plenty safe (at Virginia Beach) by Dec 28th for a group of people.. My keepers from the 18th below..

peter has his own agenda,he says the ice isn't ready but you see sleds on the ice lol, there are better sites to find out simcoe info.

Peter runs Ice shacks in Gilford he is not renting any yet it is not thick enough for customers, " Not ready " he is only interested in his own business.    If you read the sight that is obvious,

I am pretty sure the operators do not pull out permanents on less then 6 inches and growing ice. It may be more..  He does however interview folks going on the ice and in this case the guys in V.B had Video live feed .. Agenda ? His agenda is telling folks when his huts are available and making money, not informing people they can go fishing on the 4 inches of ice and get sued if they fall in.  Addicted states 5 inches no operators going to pull customers onto 5 inches.. Some guys use the big Bombardier jobs like ice tanks,, Min is sled pulling out 6 guys in ice coach  gotta weigh 1200 lbs loaded  . No paying customer walks to a hut, nice warm ride part of the deal.

went to vb today. did pretty decent for the first trip out. might want to get there a little earlier. called them in with a chubby darter and a slab grabber with a red bead did the damage today for me.
