  • Love IceFishing for SMELT,PERCH,BLUEGILLS,CRAPPIE,
I have caught many different species of fish through the ice , but there is one i have NEVER caught and that is a Catfish.  :( i have caught plenty in the summer but not one during the Ice season. I would love to hook into a 20 + pounder  while i am jigging for perch . Now that would be fun on Light tackle.
I do all types of fishing; but I am Die hard Ice angler.
I love Ice Fishing the lakes of Rutland County. Recently moved to NY and now will be Ice fishing the Lakes Of New York.

I would someday like to catch a big brook trout through the ice.  The brook trout is the prom queen of the trout world, and a promiscuous prom queen at that!  :-*
One more with the one we're after and we'll have two.

Good question wiggle, salmon! Going to give it the old college try in the morning! Let you know what is up. I was thinking about it the other day and have caught 13 species through the ice.

  • You should have seen it! It was huge!
I have a long list of haven'ts.  I just caught my first crappies through the ice.  That was fun.  I usually target pike and jig for perch.  This year I hope to target lakers, walleye and salmon.  In the next couple weeks I may be posting some q's about the when, where's and how's.
