Mustang has a new floatation line, the catalyst. I was considering finding a store that carries them to go try them on (i think the rating on time it will float you for is alot higher on the mustang gear).

I bought my arctic armor suit this season.  Will keep you warm, that's for sure, and lots of pockets.  The only negative I've found so far they don't breath at all, maybe that's common on these flotation suits.  I get real clammy not matter how cold it is.

The new mustang is touted as the only breathable floatation outfit on the market that breathes, plus it does have pit zips for vents too. Gonna see if west marine stocks them so i can go try them on.

I give my vote to Striker.  Just got mine this season, designed for ice fisherman by ice fisherman,  In my opinion the best value for the money and the guys at Striker are awesome if you have any questions or need any assistance.  Nothing will help keep you warm or prevent hypothermia a once your wet, so flotation is the main concern.  They say you have about 15 minutes. . . .

I bought the red/black Arctic Armor from Fish 307 in Lake George back in 2008. I agree with SchrnLker the suit could breathe better . I think the Mustang and Stearn's suits are both USCG approved and rated. Other brands may not want to spend the money to get this approval. Also I believe most Mustang suit are one piece coveralls , maybe this is also why others are not coast guard approved for floatation. What ever you decide to buy see if you can find a dealer near you and try the suit on as sizing ruins different on each makers suit.

The mustang catalyst suit is 2 pc, and doesn't provide hypothermia protection, but will float you for something like 24 hrs which is important if you are unable to get on top of the ice right away.

The striker suits breathe well.  They have pit zips and 3-way leg zips to adjust for venting in the legs.  True zip-to-the-hip leg zips, too, so you can slip them on over any size boot.  They easily go on over my Inferno's when other bibs I have can't.

I have had the AA suit for 6 seasons and it has been good to me. but it looks like over that time quality may have gone down. Looks like Striker looked at the AA suits and fixed the flaws.

When my AA gives up the ghost, I'm going with Striker.

Striker for me.  I walk everywhere, pulling the sled/auger up and over to 4 miles each time, venting is KEY!  All float suit coats should have pit zips - no excuses.  Adjust-ability on the bibs is fantastic, the velcro hems - again - should be on every pair of bibs on the market.  Best system I've seen yet for inseam adjustment.

It's a great suit, worth every penny I paid for it.

I am in my 3rd season with my AA, I like it, other than it does not breath, my dad has the new striker climate, very nice, more bulk and a wierd fit, XLjacket is huge, except tight in around the hips and my waist is a 34" very difficult to get the zipper started because of this.  My dad bought an XL and had to get the 2XL, he's selling the XL

Well I am not liking my AA suit so much anymore, crotch split pretty much from back to front, done!  I think I will replace it with cabela's guide wear, its seems anything that is made for icefishing is garbage, look at all the augers now, all junk, that's why I bought a tanaka post hole auger!

Striker! I bought the climate suit it is awesome the only time I set up the shelter this year was when people with me started to complain they were cold  :'(
I just took the liners out and have been wearing it while trolling, when it warms up in the day I just open the vents. If you do allot outside in the spring and fall you will love the climate suit.

How well does that work? I'm mildly skeptical.. How well will it cut through ice?

P.S. Sorry to change the topic, but i am extremely curious about this Tanaka

I've had my Arctic Armor for 3-4 years now. I love it, definitely warm. Only wish it had a pocket on the inside of the bibs to hold a bait puck.

OT: I have a 8" Nils power auger(Tanaka), it was the first time using it this past season, no problems or complains so far.

Striker for me! great suit, comfortable, warm, plenty of storage and floats really well (i tested).  With these floating suits - MAKE SURE you wear the coat when you have the bibs on.  Otherwise, if you go in, you'll be upside down pretty quick (legs will float, upper body won't)

just saw pics, of a guy that tested just the bibs and he was up right ,but that was warm water and he wasn't even kicking his feet , and saw jacket tested same results ,I'll see if my bud can foward this to me
