I heard a rumor that they pulled the limit regulations and it will be a free for all again this winter? Rumor or not?

Thats what I heard.  No limit.  I just hope guys don't start throwing dinks on the ice again and leaving them.  If I see any wanton waste going on whoever is doing it will be reported to the DNR!!

The lake has come up 5 inches over the past two months not much , but at least some.  There are no plans to liberalize fishing regulations this winter.

I was out there this morning at 7:30 and seen no one on the ice. Patrol road closed..Mormon hill  road closed. 2 workers in headquarters , they said not enough ice yet. Gonna go out tomorrow and check it out again.

I called up there today and spoke with Nancy and she said they aren't letting people out yet. I drove up and checked the ice and found right at 2" in the front by the headquarters. All other access roads are cabled off. I called back to see exactly how much ice there had to be before they would let people out. The guy I spoke to said they NEVER close the lake except for water fowl and would open the other areas sometime on monday. I guess Nancy doesn't like ice fishing.

Thanks for the accurate response.

I just called the headquarters and they said there's still alot of open water areas and the ice is unsafe at the moment. Nobody is out there probably won't be safe till next week some time if the nights stay cold. They don't reccomend anyone go out till next week. So no rush for me to head over there.

According to the weather on the lake-link site for Willow Slough, mid 40's next week. Looks like whatever is made this week is all gone next week.

Is this the only thing you post? Seems like your last ten posts have said the same thing.

Reminds me of Jamesboyle63 from last year.  Every post was about how bad the weather was and that the slough was not ready.

Just for snits and giggles I looked up the Mr. Boyle you referred to Mr. Worm. He seems a tad odd. Oh well, seems he's no longer posting here. Maybe he moved to a colder area. A side note. Any thought on the Genz fly reel or any other fly reels for on the ice?

They are good for reducing line twist which keeps your lure from spinning under the water.  Gills and Crappie will rarely hit a lure that is spinning.  Down side is unless you pay for the ones with the larger arbors, if you plan on reeling in the fish with them, most are a 1:1 ratio so its alot of reeling each time.  Its best to fill them with fly backing to increase the amount of line you pick up per turn.

Like waxworm said "you'll need to buy the high dollar reel". Might be a good idea to just use a tiny barrel with a 24" leader. Thats the best way I found to reduce the dreaded line spin. just my $.02

Any recent Slough ice reports?

I too checked the slough yesterday afternoon. 2-2.5 inches by shore. Looked to be just skimmed over from island out to the weeds. All cables were still up. Hopefully the rain there calling for next week stays away.

but look at the lows in the mid to lower 20s it should stay below freezing more hours of the day and the slight thaw may help with honeycombing on top and the snow....
