Fin-Bore III handle became detached -- fixable?
« on: Jan 01, 2013, 11:52 AM »
Anyone know how to reattach  the handle on the Normark Fin-Bore III auger ?

For the life of me I can't figure it out.
Maybe a rubber O-ring is missing?

Any help will be appreciated.

Dave

I couldn't wait forever waiting for you guys to solve my problem  ;D so I went to Home Depot to see what might help.
I had already pulled out my calipers and measured the auger shaft as .72".
When I saw the 5/8" ID washers in the plumbing section (the red rubber kind used for washing machine hose, etc) I figured it was worth a shot.
So I folded the washer and pinched it with a pair of forceps and installed in handle in a slot that was 2" up from the bottom.
It fit is that slot nice.
Then I rubbed some water on the auger shaft to lube it a bit before I installed the handle.
When the water dried, the handle firmly was in place yet still rotated.
Not sure if this was the optimal solution, but good enough!

The tug is the drug.
