There is safe ice on certain coves of certain lakes in Mount Pocono - the boat launch off Mountaintop lake to name one, crappie cove on emerald to name another.  I walked out today onto mountaintop over to 10 feet of water and wasn't at all scared. Will probably be jigging it tomorrow after checking out some other lakes up on top.  3 inches of crud ice, 2 inches of slush, 2+ inches of black underneath but it all todgether felt a ton safer than the ice I fished on back on december 1st.  Absolutely no cracking whatsoever.  If the slush layer freezes tonight, you're talking six inches of ice tomorrow.  Going gung-ho on Sunday with people, home made vodka, and a mess of tip-ups with the hopes of filling the freezer.  Gotta go to whoerles tomorrow and inquire about the bait situation.

My private lakes: Laurel, Gruber, Emerald complex (Mountaintop, E Emerald, W Emerald, Pine Tree, Deer, Lower Deer, Halfmoon, Hunter, Little Mountaintop), Leisure Lk, Leisure Pd, Monroe, Tego, Little Tego, Upper Spring, Pocono Summit, Blue Mountain.  I want Naomi, Paupacken, and Hallowood and I'll chase the dream called Pocono Lake

Is mountain top the lake that's next to emerald ? I was looking on the map but couldn't find that name on any lakes in that area. It might have a different name on my map.

that it is - you have the two emeralds on either side f long pond road, next is mountaintop with a canal that connects it to little mountaintop, then pine tree, deer, and little deer.  Theres a hunter and halfmoon up there as well.

Posted in Long Pond, White Oak, Lower Woods, and Miller's Pond pages....Long Pond 80% open water, White Oak needs a few days, Lower Woods needs a bit of time, and Miller's should be good by Tuesday with the temps

I was there yesterday, and based on what I know of the lake, they haven't started drawing it down yet...
