cant wait to get some early ice fishing in with the kids. last year was great with my son who was five and now his is six and will probably slay them again. soon he will be showing me how to do it.

Now you can use " for him to have fun" as an excuse to buy more gear.

All I can think about is ice this year. I'm going to get my gear out on my next day off and fix some problems I had with my clam. The guy who put it together at Scheels put the tent on a little too tight and it has a tendancy to rock back and not let the skirt sit on the ice, also making a few jigging handles on my new wood lathe. So yeah I'm dreaming of it every day.

I hear you fishn mt my boy is five and he is asking me everyday when the ice is gonna be here. He is slayer and is my favorite fishing buddy
we have already started to plan are first fishing trip on the hard deck its gonna be fun i cant wait till the ice gets here we usually are hitting the hard deck in November so its almost here

I've got my gear ready to go, I've been building some tipdowns, to help feed my addiction. Starting to do some research to find new waters to try, and to review my "list of lakes to try" from last year.

Spent the last week hammering monster eyes on the Red River at Selkirk, Manitoba. On the drive home yesterday, the ponds were skimmed all over southern Manitoba and upper North Dakota.... I hop out of my truck at Lewistown and there's no chill to the air!!! **censored**?!?! It's way too warm here

Spent the weekend in the Gravely's outside of Ennis setting up an Elk Camp fro next week, on the way out Sunday morning a couple of the beaver ponds were skimmed over... Got the blood moving and the mind thinking about the hard water.
Anyone know where they're going to try to go first if we manage to get some cold weather early this year? With any luck I'll be at Yellowwater early if it gets any decent ice. It's definately low but got a report that it held water fairly well this summer with the dry conditions.

After this amazingly hot, dry, smoky and miserable summer, when I was too busy and/or it was too hot to fish much, I am looking forward to ice fishing probably more than I ever have in my life.

My wife tells everyone that I am addicted to this site, and ice fishing, and that I need help. I told her that 4 inches of good ice, would go a long way towards helping me. Thinking about it all the time, ready to get out ASAP.

I'm pretty excited, this cold snap we've had is really getting me pumped. As pumped as I am for ice, I really hope there's no ice at the duck pond tomorrow morning!!

I was breaking skim ice on back water part of the pond this morning!! Came around the corner and there was ice with snow dusting it along shore, what. A beautiful site!

I hate to be a nancy but it will be gone in a week and it will have to start forming again when the cold REALLY sets in.

You're right MTAngler but this cold goes a long way to getting the average lake temps down to where they will freeze quickly when the cold finally sets in!!!
