kawasaki priaire -sluggish
« on: Feb 28, 2012, 07:59 PM »
i have a 2005 kawasaki praire 700 4x4..Its been a great machine. I have 190 hours on it and JUST over 1000 miles...anyways right out of the gate its alittle sluggish lately. I can punch the throttle down from a dead stop and it takes a second or two to get it moving. If I am already moving at a few miles per hour the throttle response is awesome and always has been.... but from a dead stop she is lacking. I dont ever remember this being an issue before, maybe I just didnt notice it. Any info or ideas?

First check the spark plug it might be fouling out.
Next check the air cleaner, rodents love to build nests in them and can appear over night.
Then check the fuel filter. You should be able to blow through it with almost no effort.
After that it's carb adjustment, cleaning or rebuild

now that I think about it there have been times on the lake when I am cruisinf (30mph +) and it seemed as though the engine was missin or something. It is the original fuel filter also, so that will be gettign replaced for sure!!!!

It can't hurt to run some Sea Foam thru it to clean things out.  You can buy Sea Foam at any auto outlet store or Walmart.  Just follow directions on can.

My 4-wheeler was running rough not idling and had to run with choke partially out.  Put seafoam in it and run it pretty hard for a while and now  purrs like a kitten.  Idles great the stuff is amazing!!
