Anybody have trouble with being able to read bottom depth before drilling your hole?
I have tried water on the ice, chipped it out a ways, more water, it just wont do it. If it gives me any reading at all it reads any random depth thats not correct. My buddy has same machine, his seems to do it pretty well. I do have one of the transducer's with the chip in side of ducer, hard to say how much that plays a part. All n all my fishing buddy's machine seems to work better all around.  Thxs for any ideas.

The ice would need to be clear for your unit to pick up depth. Did you try doing it at the same time as your buddy?

Actually the ice was full of multiple layers
layers of overflow, and amber dark water.
I kind of figured it might have trouble with
that. There has been other places with good
ice, side by side with my buddies. He's able
to pick up depth right away, mine picks up no
no depth, then just comes up with random
Depths.

I have an X67 and a Vexilar FL-20. I noticed that if we are using the two units side by side, the X67 starts reading random depths due to interference from the FL-20. It displays the proper depth on the graph but the digital depth readout is all squirrley. I don't know if this applies to your unit.

My buddy's X67 shoots through good ice with no problem. Snow ice not so well. Either will my Humminbird.
