Okay, I know some people get upset when people ask for info, but too bad.

That parking area....Shibley's.....where abouts is that? I'm looking at the depth map on the F&G website, but Alton Bay is longer than I knew. I'm trying to figure out which direction to walk in to hit the depth I want. I see Sandy Pt, Watson Pt, Woodman Cove, Youngs Cove.... where am I gonna be?

I've never fished this lake in my life.

The Alton Bay Launch area where we can park/meet is just south of Sandy Point on the same side of the Bay (west side). I will be at the launch with a 2' X 6' Black & White Ice Shanty Banner!

That's okay with me! Being a walker, I do a lot of bow fishing, just because I'm too lazy to walk too far lol.

IT's A GO GUYS!!! THE SHANTY SHIN-DIG IS ON!

Please Join Us this Saturday, March 3rd for the 2012 TEAM NH GET-TOGETHER!

I'll be at the Launch Area on Alton Bay by 6am with a couple Boxes of Joe and muffins/doughnuts. Look for the 2x6' Black/White Ice Shanty Banner! People can feel free to head out on the ice and fish or hang out and socialize - Meet other members...

Around noon time you're all Welcome to join us at the Gazebo/Band Stand at the edge of the lake/parking lot for lunch. Lou offered to bring up his Grill and we'll have steak-tips, hot-dogs, venison etc.

I figure around 12:30p I'd like to get everyone together for a Group Photo and then I'll start the raffles. We've got several prizes including: Ice Shanty Hats/Bumper Stickers, Jig Rods, Buck Tail Jigs, Heritage and Frabill Tip-Ups, GC to Bass Pro, & GC to AJ's Bait & Tackle, as well as a 50/50 Raffle.

People can feel free to stay as long as they'd like or head out after lunch.... Whatever works for ya? Several people have offered to bring their portables in case it rains/snows and there is also the Gazebo near by. It should be a Great Time Guys! Hope You Can Make it?

If you're not familiar with the area... Here's what to look for, I'll be there with a 2x6' Ice Shanty Banner!

Keith what should I bring for cash for the raffles how much are tickets? Thanks for putting this together looking forward to putting some faces to names.

You can go to the little store about 100 yards away from the launch ramp to buy bait, or to Alton Traffic Circle.....going all the way to the other side of the lake would be a bit of a long hike.

Aj's is normally open at or before 5am.

thanks sweet lou I called em up they dont have any smelt, I also called Alton circle and they do have smelt and it is right on the way from where I am coming from, I wish they opened a little earlier since this is prob going to be my last outing this yr along with my buddy so I really wanna fish hard and get him on some fish. Oh' dark thirty is always the best fishing!

the alton traffic circle opens pretty early, its like a truck stop, they have breakfast there and everything....id be surprised if its not open by 530ish.

Channel 9 weather is calling for mix to rain on Sat. Temp in the 40's IS folks - bring your rain gear. Watch that ice! it's been crappy all year.

We consistently cut 12 inches of ice out there yesterday, we're good to go ! Stay off the center of the ramp, you can't see the hole there with the snow now, go out off either side !

Thanks Kieth for a great job pulling it together, I'll be there with the better half for sure. Just a few things I wanted to say about that area (inner bay) since I practically live out there during the season. Stay atleast 10-12' away from the town docks this time of year and also about half way between the launch and the bridge the ice thickness changes drastically, probably less than 3". There was some wood that marked the spot but that will be covered now. And the east side by Harmony park is in the current and is also sketchy now espeacially in front of the town beach which is wicked weedy anyways. On the west side across from the beach and behind the pavillion ( now a cigar shop amongst other things ) is good pickeral territory. Up the inner bay about half way you see some markers (red and a black) those are marking a rockpile where cusk like to hang, and from there to sandy point is probably your best bet for lakers. Large area infront and to left and right of the launch is mainly perch territory. Most of the rainbow areas are pretty openned up, but if you fish just under the ice a few feet you might hook a salmon, there healthy and put up a good fight but have been beat up this season with a lot of hookups. On the other side of the street in Back bay where I have been fishing the last 2 weeks is great pickerel fishing also, slow but usually from 18-26" fish caught there. Now you know all my good spots, have fun. These are just my opinions and hope that everyone enjoys my winter playground as much as I do. See you there!
