Gonna try and get out on the Ottawa River here in Arnprior to check the ice tomorrow, I'll report back. Probably around 6" if I had to guess.

I'd love to get out to Petrie sometime this year... I've never caught a crappie in my life, but I'd love to.

I think there was a thread around here a week ago about a guy going to Petire and there being 4 or 5 inches somewhere. Can't 100% verify that.

I have a buddy moving to Orleans in two weeks.  What species do most people target at Petrie?

Petrie Island is the Ottawa River and has Crappie, Perch, Walleye, and Pike.

Petrie Island is located on Trimm Rd just off Hwy 174 in Orleans

Walleye are commonly found in "Walleye Bay" which the first big bay on the right after you have gone past the bait shop.

Crappie Bay is just past Walleye Bay but on the left had side of the road.

Another common ice fishing location is Shirley's Bay for walleye and pike.
