There are alot of different options out there. I would suggest buying a couple of different kinds and trying them out. That way it will help you decide what you like best.

I really like Little Atom Nuggies and Micro Nuggies, also Little Atom Noodles fished wacky style, both with tungsten jigs. I use a TB Power Noodle with 2 or 3lb line. Get your favorite flasher out and you probably won't bother with live bait. Everyone I fish with, went from fishing 5 holes down to 1 or 2. ( they laughed at me when I got a flasher, until I started catching more then they all did))  I still like to dead stick a minnow if I am not going to move around much. I learned how to fish the plastics by watching Corey Betchel's video on Ice Fishing today.

PS.. I really don't think color makes much difference ,imho

Small,  Ma&Pa cottage industry type operation, usually have my stuff well within a week. Need to remember that there was a Holiday in there, heaven only knows what family oriented situation may have arrived un-announced. I use PayPal, don't always get confirmation from them directly but through PayPal, be patient, things will arrive and safely packed

On the lakes I fish, the perch love Lunker city fin s minnows, 2.75".  Use a 1/32 or 1/16 jig head and drop it to the bottom (Prefer the proper lunker city jig head because the hook is deadly sharp, but use luck e minnow head jigs when I can't find them).  When jigged correctly this thing dances like a real minnow with tiny moments.  I am told these plastics work in the winter, but I do know they catch small mouth and perch during the soft water season.
Add a day to your life, go fishing.

MAKI PLASTICS!!
Fishing is a sport in which thinking is involved it is the covenant between nature and man, mother and son. Through fishing only can we recreate the link that has been tarnished throughout the existence of the modern era of mankind. Fishing is the answer yet people ignore it and consider it a "stupid" thing to do. What do these people do instead? They stare in front of color changing boxes. Is that life? My life is fishin

I have used them on lindy fat boy jigs and caught some crappies on them.  They have great action.

If I had to pick one, it would be the origional "maki". I use alot of natural and dark colors, white is also great.
The TOI is another favorite of mine. All the baits work but I rarely get past those two.  ;D
The sampler pack is a good option, with some other picks also...

Just got a pack of whips in the mail. Can't wait to see them in action.
Work should not be so pressing as to prevent a day's fishing through the ice.
