My luck i would drop it down a hole.  I think it is a great idea though. I hope it works out for them.

I really like the concept for scouting, much easier and faster then setting up the big camera, another 25 feet of cable would be helpful though.

Watched the promo, for entertainment for his two kids, that baby is going down the hole! I do like it, for scouting as surflizard has said.

Pretty cool, with my luck though I'd have a 30 lb fish bite the camera on the end of a 22 lb test camera cable and that would be the end of it ;D

Its gonna be sweet. Camera quality is good!!!I dropped it of the dock and had a nice Smallmouth bass looking back at me on the monitor. It comes with a lanyard, two directional fins and to directional wire clips for side viewing. Can wait to try it on the ice!!!

they have my interest for sure.. I do have a few concerns.. at $299 it is expensive for a scouting device. There is no stand available so it is stickily a hand held unit. I would like to see the battery in cold temps. Most camera batteries will not hold up well in extreme cold, I have a camera that is meant for cold temps, but I still keep it close to my body so the battery holds up.

great idea, I want to see it on the ice

It should be pretty easy to make up a stand for one. On the back of the spool there is a threaded hole that will make attaching it to somthing very easy. I think it would screw right onto a camera tripod.

yeah, but my question is why? this is the second or third product in the last few years that guys are making stands for.. I would think as a company Aqua-vu would want to give  you that option withoug having to build it. If if has a screw you can thread on a tripod thats awesome, super easy and a great idea, most tripods have a quick release clip so that would be perfect, but I dont see it listed as a feature so im not sure if that will actually work

This is very interesting and tempting. I just bought a vex last year and love it but for weed covered shallow pan fish I would like to see what's down there. It does seem a little expensive for a scouting tool though.

6 hrs at room temp, gonna give it the freezer test when I have a chance to be around it all day.

Looks great!  But two vital things missing from it as far as something I would want before I drop $299 bucks.  Those things are:

1) Built in directional location on screen display  ( love this feature on the Marcum's ~ I hate not knowing which my camera is pointed and then you gotta do the spin thing )
2) SD Card slot for Video recording ( This would be a great feature...especially now this camera has color ~ also make the recording feature in something normal [avi, mpeg,mp4]...not ASF like the old recorder.

Other than that I think they have a great product.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Marcum or Vexilar come out with something similar next year.

Cheers,

shawno   @)

I'm looking to get a camera this season. For the price should I just get a standard size one? This one ?

I can see the 5/6 gallon bucket mods already, can't wait to see peoples ideas for use of this little fella!!  Looks like a good idea but I agree with shawno 100% on the directional indicator!!

Guys,

Aqua-Vu has a RAM mount accessory already made for the Micros. It works great attaching it to the wind shield of a boat and will have lots of applications for winter use.  It will be fun to see all the ideas anglers come up with for mounting the units and also the uses. Some muskie anglers are talking about attaching them, to their sucker rigs!

Did anybody get to take a look at the AV760cz color camera with the zoom feature or the mini video recorder DVR they are offering this year yet? They both look pretty sweet, kinda spendy though.

Battery time estimates seem pretty close. I've used both the 760cz and the mini dvr. The optics on the 760 are amazing, best I've had a chance to use and the unit stays in color at much deeper depths then other systems. As for the mini dvr, very easy to use and the motion detect feature is going to be awesome for hardwater setups.

Can you use the DVR with the mini? I know its for scouting but that would be a +
