best yellow perch jigs
« on: Aug 31, 2011, 09:55 AM »
I mostly catch yellow perch while jigging, but I'm running out of jigs. I'm not sure which ones i should buy. Does anyone know of any good yellow perch jigs that i could tip with a mousie spike or meal worm?

Big fan of Fiska jigs when the perch are in deep water and finicky. Another good one is custom jigs and spin's ratso and shrimpo.

X1000.  For two seasons this was hands down my best jig, number 10.  I have also had a ton of luck with Fiskas, and Genz Worms.

I've always had luck with bright colored fiskas tipped with a waxworm

might be a little old school, but I always do good with silver Swedish Pimples. Tip it with mousies or a minnow head and your set.

Garnet, i completely agree with u, the perch love them Swedish pimples!!
Fishing is a sport in which thinking is involved it is the covenant between nature and man, mother and son. Through fishing only can we recreate the link that has been tarnished throughout the existence of the modern era of mankind. Fishing is the answer yet people ignore it and consider it a "stupid" thing to do. What do these people do instead? They stare in front of color changing boxes. Is that life? My life is fishin

I caught so many jumbo perch last season on a Swedish Pimple and minnow head that my buddy gave the nickname "Minnowhead". ;D

Orange glow Forage Fry Minnow tipped with a waxie works for me. Got sick of hauling 'em in the other year.

At times I like Bucksot Rattle Spoons over anything else. There are days when Perch hammer them with bare hooks.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

i forget the exact one, but it's pretty much the standard size.  it's the 2 inch one. what ever that weight is. but i also take off the treble and put the single hook on.  seems to increase my catch rate.

Searching for them- Buckshot spoon or Jiggin Rap with a dropper is hard to beat. On top of them - Horizontal jig with a plastic whip or wedgee type, red if on muck (worms), white (minnow) otherwise for starters and be open to adjust to their taste at that moment

Hali's in orange and gold and blue and white have been good for me.

I also have done really well on these. Green candy stripe with the orange stripe. Jig it with a minnow head or a wiggler.

I caught a fish once!
