Good length, but kinda skinny. If that fish was caught in Moosehead it would weigh another 6 pounds.

The rumor I heard was that one of the guys left the lake for an hour or so with his traps unattended and thats how the fish had the time to swim around and get into the other line.I guess that costed him half the prize if it's true. Then again, rumors and fishing derby's go to together like peanut butter and jelly.

Buddah, that is absolutely true. The other guys trap was unattended for quite sometime. I personally would not have agreed to the split. My friend in this pic was set up before sunrise with his group. The other came along and set his trap up about 8 feet from Zack's trap, which is why the two of them had the same fish on. The boat will be sold by the marina and the $ will be split between them.

Isn't leaving your lines unattended illegal?

Yeah, so did the guy get fined for having an unattended line?
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did so. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

That would pi$$ me off...  I can't believe the other guy would feel ok and can sleep at night knowing that there is no way he deserved that fish!  Or half of the money for the boat....

No kidding, the second he got confrontational I would have called the wardens over and said that the fish came thru MY hole and his traps were unattended.

i was just in vt and saw some guy almost get a ticket for 200 bucks for an unattended line. the warden gave him 5 minutes to get to the flag that was up. i'm sure it's about the same amount in maine which is still a good deal if u consider the prize $.

I'm surprised he didn't cut it too. Especially if the guy wasn't there. Our group was joking about pushing each other down and stealing each others flags all weekend. Though sometimes I think we were only semi-joking. lol.

we talked to a warden that was on the lake on Sunday, and asked about who the fish belonged to because it had 2 lines sin its mouth. and he said legally it belonged to whoever pulled it threw the ice. but wood wise your friend is very kind for doing that. i know if it were me i would of cut the line and not said a word.
