early last week, I caught a few nice slabbers in the inner malletts bay.  hadn't caught them like that in a while.  about 28-35fow.  think I would have missed a bunch of them without the flasher though.  some were a heavy 10" nothing bigger than that though

Would you say getting your 4 wheel drive car stuck at a lake, fishing there once at night and 3 times during the day and only ending up with 10 fish so far not hard work?  I tried my luck with smaller bodies of water to have better chances and I got almost no fish 3 out of the 4 times. Also there was no place to park so i pulled off the side of the road a bit and the road drops off 6 inches right off the bat. Found out where to park the hard way.  With champlain so big the fish are few and far between and when fish ain't biting in one place who wouldn't want to know that, as to not waste there time.

Ok,  it is a big lake and the fish aren't always biting.  I've been finding them anywhere from 15'-65'. East and west side of lamotte and valcour are my usual areas, but anywhere a bay drops off is usually good. I use navionics on a handheld GPS, that is probably one of the best tools to use on bodies of water covered by navionics.  :)

Thats cool I cant really afford a toy like that yet haha.  The other problem with champlain is that I live near St Albans bay and the perch fishing out there aint to good.  I have heard some good things from maquam bay though so I might give that a try this weekend.  I might try for some pike though when I go to maquam.

I did quite well last Thur fishing north side of sandbar... Caught some really nice slabbers (3 were over 12 inches, one just missed the 13 inch mark). Fished again on Sunday and caught a bunch more although not as big as on Thurs. We were fishing in approx
40 FOW... I drilled quite a few holes on Sunday before finding them...

Ah those are the nice ones.  Over three quarters of the ones I got from fairfield were over 10 inches and fat slabs.  One fillet was the size of a dink I got at the georgia shore.  Drillin holes is tough when you have to do it by hand.  I can usually get 15 to 20 holes in the ice if im ambitious but after no fish it gets frustrating.
