A couple of ice fishing old photos

Thought i would post a couple of old photos I recently had digitized. The gentleman holding the three lake trout was a great guy, one of the best. I still miss him when I go ice fishing. Cancer got him way to soon! I am the guy in the orange hat. I caught the salmon I am holding and the laker is the large one Pete caught that day. The fish were caught on Button Bay, Lake Champlain approximately 25 years ago.

Boy do I have great memories ice fishing as a kid and I kind of regret never bringing a camera to take pictures.  Well at least I still have my memory.

My grandfather introduced me to ice fishing.  He was a big perch fisherman and loved Keelers Bay.  I never took photo's of those days either and really regret it.  Of course, as a little kid, who has a camera or thinks of that then?  Brings back a lot of good memories and every time I go perch fishing, I really think about how he would be in awe at the gear we have now.

Cool photos! I've lost some great old fishing friends too, over the years. 

Did you say "salmon"? I'd be willing to bet that's a brown. Sure doesn't look like a salmon tail on that fish?

I am really glad i have the few photos that I took. Really wish I had taken more.  If I knew then what I know now I would have taken many more. Hard to stop fishing some times and take the pictures. I would love to have one  of Pete's tip ups to fish with now, you can bet that it would be used every time I went out. That "salmon" may have been a brown. When I caught it we thought it was a salmon so it will always be a salmon to me.

Yeah, we've been fooled by them before too, but the other way around. Caught some male salmon, hooked jaw and all, that looked just like a brown! Oh well, it doesn't really matter anyway. Good fish just the same!
