farrar pond
« on: Feb 23, 2011, 07:46 AM »
If any of you guys want to catch some bass, check out farrar pond. Of course not without me, otherwise it would get hectic. No taking fish!!!!!!! Needless to say, there are some big fish in there.....

the second bass actually towed our canoe maybe ten feet

Yeah they are there, but they have a path for ice skating, and if you are quiet and go real early in the morning, like 5, then no one notices

Fishsluggo is right little man. Not worth the hassle you get if you get caught. Being that your young they may just tell you to beat it. But a habit that's not worth getting into.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

There's tons of backwoods ponds around that have huge fish and very little fishing pressure with no signs telling you to keep out. Most towns have conservation land or at least some little pond that has a parking spot on the side of the road to access it. It's not worth getting busted for trespassing to catch a 4 pound bass, but I'd say it's worth a twenty minute walk with a canoe to catch a 4 pounder!

Now if I could just get the parking plowed out for the winter...

Yeah. There is a few ponds up north, I will keep locations disclosed, but I heard they used to have a hatchery on the shore and that in years past they have caught true ten pounders. I went to farrar ony birthday, it was my dads idea, he saw an 8 lber that was recently caught there by one of his colleagues. It was an exciting day, no police, but I should be more careful

I drive by Farrar every day.  I have seen people on occassion in the summer on a canoe or shore fishing but have never seen anyone ice fish.  I know there is a sign that says "No Ice Skating" but I don't recall a sign saying you can't fish it.  The parking area is halfway between the Sudbury river and Farrar, and Sudbury river is better anyway so you may as well go there.
