I'm an old tight liner and love braid but i do tie short leaders on to it  Couple reasons why i like braid -1 is it dosen't cut around holes -2 is i can see it alot better than mono -3 is it never wares out  We mainly fish for suspended crappies  in 5to 8ft. of water  If i were fishing much deeper mono might be better i'm not sure because of line curl

My favorite line for deep water crappies is Fireline MicroIce in 2lb. I fish for suspended crappies in 30fow alot and the fireline really helps detect light bites and get a good hookset in deeper water. It's super thin and very strong for it's diameter. It's much stronger than 2lb mono IMO.
