  • Ice - It's not just for drinking!
No blow-by-blow recap by me, just some good pics of good times.

MOM making some new friends on Friday night before dinner (no, they were not dinner)

Dom, Issiah, Scott listening to Pat describing the 13" smelts he was jigging up

A sample of the fine eats on ice, this one provided by ramrod

MOM working up a laker on Tyler's trap

A nice fish above the ice

Harrie looking for trouts, with CaptJJ and jaeger61 a little ways off

The weather starts to roll in

The view from the launch back out to the MHF spread (thanks for bringing my stuff in, Mike & Capt!)

Harrie & Steve packing up the world's largest porta-potty  ;D

The ride home, somewhere around White Lake (before it got really crappy)

And one final pic for me.  Thanks to everyone today who made this trip worth the ride.  I'd go through that slop again in a heartbeat to be with this crowd for the day.
I'm a-going to stay where ya sleep all day,
Where they hung the jerk who invented work
In the big rock candy mountains.

Those are some awesome Pictures. I know my ride from Indian lake down to home was just as bad.

It was a rocky start to a very cold morning. We ran right out to where we thought Issiah had headed. Saw a pop up blind and tip ups.
Thought yup there he is, only it wasn't him. Sorry to the guy.... :-[   He wasn't to happy with us...Thought there was a derby or something.. :-[

So we moved after snow machines were buried in the slush and snow. What a sloppy mess. We managed to find a good spot with hard packed.
Capt.JJ actually started us off with a great fish, but my camera wouldn't work..Too cold!! 26-27" and 6lbs+ by the look of it. He said it wasn't that big, but he's used to catching big ones... ;D
Then STKA found one hungry with the jig rod...

Then we had chili and some homemade bread...a little venison to get us fortified against the cold. Bogmanjr had awesome Chowdahhh, Joe had some Zippy chili, veni sticks, smoked laker, just a buffet of great outdoor foods, veni and shrimp Kabobs the RR made were scrumptious.

Jager61 hit the next flag..He was pulling it in as I walked out...

Good fish around 24"

Then the one we were waiting for, my tip up flag went up. I yelled to MOM to get over there and catch this one. She was all to happy to. I got there and it was running good, let it go for a minute and set the hook for her. She started yarnin it in!! She did a great job with her first!!

25" and 5-6lbs Great fish!!

Was a great day with super people...The Cheeks and Hunt show is well worth the price of admission.... ;D ;D
A few shots of our group and set up. One of the best scene shots was of Chucker Jiggin looking  out on to the Frabil nation!! They were rippin smelts lips in there!!

Issiah's nephew Jon got into the action with a nice perch!!

If you have noticed, My son Tyler likes to help people with there catches. He had a great day, he said he wants to meet more new people now.
He has always been really shy so these types of things are good for him.
More group stuff and the official group photo....

Had to do a three shot panoramic to get half of us in...LOL
The mug shot!!

We will be doing it again!! What a great time!!
All fish released to fight another day,(except maybe a few smelts for the grease) ;D
Yes, the ride home was a slow, long bounce in the Jeep...But thanks to Bogmanjr's awesome generosity, we had new sneakers on it that held the road very well. Don't know how to repay you my man, will never judge you for your value, only your values. The tops!!

Oh, I wouldn't say that.  Notice how far away the wheelers are parked in the 7th pic?  That was after they got stuck and pulled out.

It is amazing how a group of people who have only have typed words back and forth, can get together and be so close. I guess there really is something to the brother(and sister)hood of the outdoors.
Was great to meet you Joe and spend a great day on the ice!!

Here's a few of our pics.

The trip out onto the ice wasn't pretty.

(note to self: don't stop moving in slush when it's zero degrees out, water freezes to the sled making it a tad more difficult to pull)
Heather thinks she agrees with getting a utility snowmobile now  ;).

After getting to the "high ground" it was a beautiful morning. A nice shot of Raquetts sign, came out great.

MOM catching a couple rays.

FLAG!!!!

Some run, some walk 8).

Hats off to Tyler and Upstate for giving MOM a shot at their only flag.
MOM played the fish like a pro.

The illusive Cheeks and Hunt emerged from the shack and didn't see a shadow, does that mean springs coming?
Great commemorative shirts! Thanks again Bog and MOM.

We feel like we forged some friendships over the weekend and look forward to seeing everyone there on more trips, even normal weekly fishing days. Thanks to everyone for the awesome food. Joe, the trophy came out great. We had a great time and are ready to start planning for next year  ;D.

Well we made it home!! ;D  I'll start again by thanking all that came out for making Mr &Mrs. Bog's first trip to NY an awesome time. We have made many new friend's and are already looking foward to spending more time with you folk's. The food was great, the company even better.Everyone who attended brought something different and valuable to the table. My new buddies worked their butt's off to put a fish in MOM's hand's and it was priceless to see her with that "Togue" (couldn't help it) in her grasp.  We have a great core of guy's & gal's here who all share a passion for the outdoor's. Just to see that many stranger's get together and enjoy something that much is refreshing.  Sunday started as a little bit of an adventure with the acess and Icy slush bath but we were able to overcome it all and it turned into another great day with my new friend's.

I will say this about our friend Issiah, there is a reason he has all those great stories and pictures. He work's his A$$ off at what he does and that = sucess.  Thank's for all your effort's Issiah, I'm practicing my knot's, :o although I'm not sure it would have mattered.

Poor Walter, That guy is just plain awesome but can't even remember his age. ;D I bet he felt like 57 by sunday night I know I did. Dom's first class, and I'm proud to call him a friend. The "chuckwagon" sled was invaluable as well as the work you did to have us out.

Trying to get these in order, may be some duplicate's in there.

Arrival to Old Forge.

No wonder the north win's, deer are like stray cat's up there.

Meet n greet at the Red Dog friday night.

Issiah and Jon unloading.

Getting set up

Frabill Nation

stka on the board.

ramrod and young-un  If she learns to cook like Dad she'll be a keeper in 20 years. ;D

Closest thing we had to celebrity's

Upstate's gear. With the ADK Ghetto sled in the background. ;D

The rest of there are from our excursion on sunday with Issiah and Raquettdacker.

I'm not going to say who is starting who.........

loading up.

Even more of those stray's.

Looking foward to Extravaganza 2012. ;D ;D ;D

I am as well Bogman. Would like to get up to your camp sometime too. The pics you show us of it sure looks like a great place. Thanks for making the trip to the "Dacks"!! They are a pretty place.
Sometimes you lose sight of what you have until you see it through another (s) eyes.
Will be a great day when we can do it again!!
