Nice gills

A few really nice gills that Chenbasshead, Fishingking and I kept for a local pond. We caught a few dozen before we decided to keep some and then we were throwing back anything over 9" and under 7". These fish were some of the strongest fighters I have seen and they were all really fat. Those 17 fish produced 2 lbs of clean fillets.




Zach wanted to "Lip" a few!  ;) And yes that is the little pond they came from in the background.

 :thumbsup: I can'y wait to get back up there...I'm glad it's only a minute (literally) from my house! ;D Now if we can only get into some of the 10"ers that I've caught from there in the past, including this winter, we'll be lookin real good.

We were fishing in about 8 FOW...the fish were being taken about 1 1/2 to 2 feet off the bottom, although a few came from around 2 feet under the ice. A few days before this, I caught a bunch from the same place when I was by myself, and they were about 2 feet under the ice. The depth can vary, but the nice thing is that the fish are always there.
