Such a DEAL!
« on: Jan 18, 2011, 11:44 AM »
So the boyfriend and I stopped out at Cabela's down in Hartford last Thursday it was time for some new Tip Up's and we needed some new braided line so off to the fishing section we went and all went uphill from there. We bought 5 new Heritage 36 inch Laker tip ups on sale for 30 a piece originally $44 then picked up a bunch  other random things then off to the check out with like $250 dollars in merchandise well the lady rang up ONLY ONE TIP UP! and we bought the $5 warranty in case anything goes wrong with "one" them....Lady Luck was def on our side. We spent about $100 and got to use our Cabela Club points! ahhhh cant go wrong with 4 FREE tip ups :) Let's Hope they reel in a big ole pike!

Let me see if I got this right? The checkout lady made a mistake and forgot to charge you for half of your merchandise which was already marked down. You didnt say a word to her but you are telling the computer world what a upstanding person you are?  Very Nice.. treemanjb

I didn't realize it till we were walking out since i wasn't really paying attention and I called Cabelas and they said it was their mistake and they couldnt go back and charge us. So Tree I am a honest person so whatever.

Why didn't you walk back in instead of calling? I'm not buying it at all. Nor do I care. There is a good chance I would have done the same thing. But your probably going to get some heat for this post.

I was at Walmart's two weeks ago, and made my purchase, and left the counter and on the way out to my van, noticed the girl overpaid me 50 cents, I was all the way out to my van at the end of the lot, quite a walk back, but I made the trek, lots of places hold the cashier's responsible, and it comes out of their pay, or they could even lose thier job, requardless of the amount. its not a question of the amount, its a question of ethics, and honesty.Beleive it or not it still is in fashion today!I was at another store little while later, and as I walked in two young girls were comming in behind me, so I held the door open for them, they both walked by, never said thank you, or even acknowledged the fact that I held the door for them. The times they are a changing. :-\

One persons stupidity is another persons cash in pocket!!! Hey if you are dumb enough to not ring up half the order, then I am dumb enough to keep that $120- and put that in my gas tank!! Good job princess, now go back to Cabelas and get ur man something nice with the extra ching you saved!!!! lol

Normaly this is a real toss up for me it and comes down to the retailer if they are a good solid company with good customer service... I would turn right around and pay the extra in this case cabelas has always been good to me i would go back..... however if this happend at DICKS sporting goods who I have some of the worst retail experinces over the years in my entire life I would just grin like a school girl and move on...
catching a fish while fishing is similar to making a baby during sex if it doesn't happen you still had a Darn good time

I wouldnt pay $30 for a Heritage even on sale...Actually, Kittery has them on sale right now for $17 a piece, picked up a few last year after the season for $13 a piece. Plus, I'm sure Cabelas 1st quarter profits won't be hurt by this sale.

The sad part of this is the "stupid" customer service person who will most likely be reprimanded or lose their job. Doesn't hurt us but maybe she has a few kids at home who get fed from the money she makes at work. Sketchy and you won't be getting any "props" from me on anything you catch

Ouch  :-\ I'm always afraid of karma in these type of situations.  I always feel that if I make out $100 on a deal like this, I'll end up paying $300 for it someplace else in the end.

I was at the store to look. Bought a minnow trap for $11. At the check out the cashier used her coupon for $10 off. Thanks!!!  As for the cashier looing her job I don't see how. Unless someone spotted her not scanning the items the store writes it off as stolen during inventory. It's not like she charged you $250 and gave you back too much change. That would show up on her registar. My wife gets those great deals at the clothes store.

I've spent thousands buying from Cabela's over the years & w/ the exception of the Bargain Cave offers they built their business over-pricing products made in China. Congrats on the discount!  :)

Some things should be left unsaid! If doing things like that don't bother you, you should at least have enough sense not to lay it out on a public forum! :o

A similar situation has happened to me there, I am sorry to say that it's not just her fault...I always pay attention as do most people when ringing up discount prices to make sure that they rang up right. It's your call but I dont think I would make off with them...I dont understand how you didnt know it. you could always return them and do it over if it's eating at you, Good luck with them I guess... ??? :-\

I agree J.R.; We certainly are heading in the wrong direction!!!!!!
I find it hard to believe that anyone would brag about doing this; :nono: Sounds like he's proud of himself????.....Pretty SAD. :(     I'd sure want to compete against him in a tourney or hire him to work for me. NOT!!!     LL

I wouldn't believe that somebody would break into vehicles and steal rods ,augers, tipups etc,but it happens.
We all have different ethics and morals.
Just take it all in and come up with your own conclusions.
This topic/post could get nasty with accusations and finger pointing.
I think we should just end this post now.
