On and off nature of spearing
« on: Jan 03, 2011, 06:20 PM »
In our traditional spot the spearing seems to be on and off.  In fact, its on and off enough to make a guy go mad.  You can consistently have shots at 5-7 trophies for a week or so and then have it just shut down for a week or so.  having not seen anything but pike the first couple times out what do you guys think the reason is....Its a deep lake and pike aren't found in the shallows in the summer instead they tend to hang deep and feed on the smelt and ciscos.  Is it possible that they haven't come into their winter haunts yet?

Thats the plan!  On a side note, my dad called excited about a spear that showed up at our cabin today!  Said it was a good piece of equipment and he was pretty impressed.  Excited to get up north this weekend and put it to work!  Thanks!!
