The fishing license only went up two bucks...I'm okay with that.
I'm mostly a Champlain fisherman and the (salmonid) fishery is improving by leaps and bounds.

Luckily i think VT is still cheaper than any other state in the Northeast.  CT doubled their fees last year and I think all the extra money is going to the general fund instead of F&W

The best law yet is as of April 1st it is a $1,000 fine for wearing felt soled waders.  They won't regulate the canoes or kayaks using the rivers, but they will keep regulating the h*ll out of us.  I don't mind the small fee increase if there was something to show for it, but they keep taking more and more away.

Didymo is really nasty but I am not happy about spending $100+ to replace my wading boots and I'm definitely not looking forward to falling on my a$$.

I would gladly pay twice the fee if they would have fishermen who sell their catch of fish pay 5 times the amout for a license .

My 81 year old father has a new pair of felt soled waders so he doesn't break his neck while fishing the brooks. Now he can't wear them,I told him the fine is cheaper than a broken hip !

You tell your DAD to wear them waders and give them wardens a piece of mind that they will never forget ! I'm sure he has much to share about the current situation with our "outdoor regulators" ! We'll all chip in on that one !

Boy we sure could turn this into a ugly can of worms...

The reduction of money coming in to the F and G budget due to lower sales needs to be covered some how. A couple of bucks is cheap, but I am sure it could be worse. We all need to help recrute more to our ranks.

Felt wader issue... were do these stupid laws come from? Have these ya-whos never tried to wade in most of our small streams with non-felt waders or hipboots. Take them out a week before trout season and make them wade across some hip deep stream and see how long they last.

Rep. David Deen from Putney Vt is responsible for the felt wader ban ...I think its bill H488...its to
try to keep from spreading rock snot.....the muskrats, beavers, coons, minks, ducks, herons, kingfishers
and shorebirds...did NOT get this memo...

What's $3?  a half a pack of smokes?  A king can of beer?  a vt hunting and fishing tag is the best deal going for a FULL YEARS WORTH OF ENTERTAINMENT.  my wife and I took our kid (only one kid keep in mind) out on New Year's EVe for dinner (a cheap one at that at Applebees) and then to see yogi bear at the movie theater and the night cost $100.  ONE NIGHT.

Now tell me is $22 for a fishin tag or $35 for a combo FOR A WHOLE YEAR is a rip off?  i cant stand hearin people bichin' about something like this. Buy one less new fishing lure this year and you'll break even.

No kidding huh. The socialist utopia here. Wait until the government run health care hits this year. Also heard that there will be new energy effficiency standards to meet before you can sell your home no matter what the age of the home. Talk about $$$ there! Add that to the 3.8% for the sale of your home added for the Obama care. Crazy. Well  I better stop this complaining before I get kicked off. Back to fishing.

"I guess I wouldn't be so mad if I wasn't already taxed into oblivion in this state.   Hard enough to live and to do the things you love here."

A uptick of a few dollars isn't too bad, considering the state of our nation.
Taxes:  Don't get me started on these.  I live in the wonderful state of JERSEY (ha).  Don't complain about taxes.  They tax the taxes down here.  Fishing licenses are still higher in this state than VT and the largest lake is 6 miles long.  Don't get me wrong, there is some very good fishing at times here in the lakes and especially rivers, but nothing like the big Champ or it's surrounding waters.

Suck it up, have one less beer or 1/2 a pack of smokes and move on.  It's the world we live in today.

Thank god the terrorists aren't going after our wildlife.

Happy new year to all.
No, it's your turn!

Webster, Last time I checked the only fish you can sell are panfish... And last time I checked F&W doesn't put a whole lot of money into Panfish Restoration/Management programs... Not sure what you have against guys who sell their catch? Whats the difference if some guy who caught a bucket full eats them all or if someone buys them from an icefisherman, easing his wallet a little bit and then people who don't ice fish can enjoy them as well?

I was wondering the same thing. If it wasn't for the people selling their fish, several locally owned restaurants wouldn't have fresh perch dinners on the menu. I personally sell lots of fish and it helps cover my bait,gas,etc...

Selling perch helped me pay for books last year.

As far as license prices going up, I wonder how much more it costs to print the law digest on gloss paper and what not. One thing that could possibly bring in alot of money to the state and ease the burden would be a slight sportsma's tax on all outdoor gear including uch things as ski and tents as well a the hunting and fishing gear- just an idea since those other types of recreation use the environment as we do...

Now we're talking  ;)  Let's add a tax to the skiing industry (& other outdoor sporting items  ) & milk the flat-landers to help benefit our F&W  ;D
