colchester pond fishing slow
« on: Dec 30, 2010, 02:25 PM »
went to colchester pond today, fished out to the middle all the way across to the east side with only little nibbles thats it. 3 groups of people fishing for northerns, with only 3 flags, and one bass out of it. fished all the way up the east side in 25 fow, with only small bites and one nice one that got away, probably a bass. Got to the north eastern corner, and hooked onto something large, snapped my  10 lb test, and my 20 lb test leader with no problem taking my whole set up, guessing it was a northern but was fun to fight for a second, a real pole bender. went to the north side and started landing the first perch of the day with the average size of 4". Didnt have much more luck than that the whole day, but was gorgeous out. Good news is there is 5-6 inches of solid ice all the way around the pond, 1" of slush on top, 1"-5" snow drifts on top of that. hopefully fishing will pick up there soon!
