Into the cold
« on: Dec 23, 2010, 06:34 PM »
So who all is going too be on Louise next week?  We are leaving on Mon. and the plan is to stay till Sun.  Should be nice and cold so don't forget your scarves and mittens.  In general what does everyone else have planned?
I was born an Alaskan I just didn't live here at the time.

I'm in! Unless it is bitter cold, then I will be IN my cabin working on the ceiling. I happen to know where the channel is too! Free Crown is too hard to pass up! ;)

Don't forget that you can take a shower at the lodges! You might be a bit ripe!

I wasn't worried about you..... It's all about property values!

I thought he moved it to Susitna? Hmmm......

Not yet, but after the day we had today out there I might be inclined to move it very soon. Who has a widetrack for hire :) Pretty slow today until early afternoon. Then the whitefish scent trail called them in. PM me if you need proof. Stay warm guys, My buddy and myself got frost nip on our cheeks today. I learned a good lesson about what not to do if you have skin freeze up. Gently warm your face with the palm of your hand. NEVER rub the affected area.

I don't know if my Tundra will pull it by itself. The 550F track is studded. I can try to tandem my 2 Tundras. Maybe shovel a place to get it going, then KEEP MOVING!

Think we could Jack it up and put some old skis under it?

Cant wait to get out there and do some hard fishing still lots of places I want to fish on Louise as well as Susitna. I  could spend several weeks strait out there and still not tried all the places I want to.

I have some plastic barrels, maybe cut some runners out of them?

We had the perfect day trip, it warmed up to -5. By the time we left the lake at 4pm it was already 20 below again and got down to the 30 below mark. Ice is a solid 16-18" where we were fishing. We haven't caught a single fish this year before noon. 12:30-2:30 seems to be the best time for the bite.
