pathfinder report please?
« on: Dec 20, 2010, 06:53 PM »
I read people are fishing pathfinder but I don't know the area. Is the entire lake safe or just parts of it? What areas are people fishing and does anyone know how good the fishing is right now?

try fishing west of the campground  best ice.  when u turn off of the high way  onto the pathfinder road  about 2 miles down these a big sign that says bishops point, turn.  when u get to the camp ground u can see every thing.  fish there or follow the two tacks
i ll fish the world but ill start right here

Might be heading to Pathfinder Fri, is everyone fishing the sweetwater arm or how about the next bay south of the dam, canyon creek?  Any ice near Black Beach on Alcova?

Went clear up the sweatwater last saturday. Got there at 10 A.M. and Left at 4 P.M. went with eyeaddict and his boy. We brought home 14 trout that were all 16 to 20 + inches. Good day on the ice. 10 to 14 inches of ice there. I checked by the dam the day before, only about 1 inch so maybe it will be good around new years?

My Daughter and I fished about 1 mile up the sweetwater arm and had a blast.6" of ice where we were.missed several flags, had a few break off.actually caught 6,kept 2 for dinner. The trout are sure getting bigger in this lake. was a great day

The sweetwater arm runs anywhere from 12-16 FOW. I fished it today and got into the trout early on, caught a few that went 20"+. Even had a few runs on 8" suckers that I had on tip ups. One came back looking like the lonely survivor of  a gator attack!!!! Im gonna head back in the morning and try to catch that minnow molesting monolith!

Wow that sounds fun.  Wish I could get my hands on some 8" suckers for Glendo!!!

Welcome to the shanty Icefishur03

Thank you moose,

There are a few places in the Casper area you can pick up larger bait. I tried some bigger minnys in Glendo last year and did not even get a bump. Those pesky 7-10" wallys swarmed everything else I could drop down a hole.

I will be heading to Pathy tomorrow morning to look for trout and some eyes. We will probably fish the bishop point/sweatwater arm.  We will be in a grey ford F250 with a Green Eskimo Caravan Flip up.  Feel free to stop by.

Is anyone running ATVs on the sweetwater arm yet?

I drilled a couple holes off bishops point yesterday just right of the boat ramp. It was 2 " thick there.straight out a little to the west of the ramp there is a warm spring, never freezes but when you can get close to that the fishing is great.lots of structure there and a few eyes but right now that is a no go

Thanks for the update Fishlord.  I found the area that never freezes last year.  I was coming back to the ramp during a blizzard and dropped the front tire of my 4 wheeler in the water.
