what a great day fished with a great group of people only a couple of screw ups but besides that things went well

SABATTUS — When Brenda Richardson of Bridgton left her home at 4 a.m. Saturday to go ice fishing, the temperature was minus-15.

An outdoorswoman, Richardson said she didn't want to miss the second annual Fish For a Cure Derby on Sabattus Lake. The ice-fishing derby raises money for the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer.

“I've been looking forward to coming here,” Richardson said, standing on the frozen lake surrounded by hundreds of other ice-fishing enthusiasts. Snowmobiles buzzed around, towing sleds with gear. Far from shore, several pickups were parked near ice-fishing shacks. Near the shore, rock 'n' roll music blared from the registration trailer.

There were four of us that were out there at 4 pm friday we stayed the night and fished until 3pm saturday. We had a great time! but it was really cold. we had an outdoor fire pit and went through some serious wood. we caught a bunch of pike, one of our group had a 6.5 lber and i caught one a little over 5lb. great group, great food, great time!!!!! thanks to everyone for organizing such an event.

I was out on the ice friday, snow didnt let me get to the spot I wanted, lots of flags couple good bites, and one 26 in 5 pounder. About Half mile to Nasons.

Great event we were fishin right next to the winner. 2 5# pike bunch of flags great weather great turnout great cause. Thank you to all the organizers

Husband and I and grandson had a great time, this was our second year. Grandson Trenton won third place last year. Didn't catch anything this year a few flags is all we had. We were wondering how much money was raised this year. Can't wait till next yr. You all do a great job,

hey was first time out there.what a good time we got there at 330 am and it was cold.had a lot of good hits and runs , landed about 6 pike and all in the 5 lb range one in the 6.didnt get to see any of the drawings .went the for 345 for the shack and it was all over i thought it was going to be at 4 ? we meet a guy that was looking for his brand new auger that fell off sled that his son gave him for christmas.i even tried to ask fellow sportsman and women on walkie if anyone has found it.all i got back was a bunch jokers !!!! to bad .we even looked to a point on the way home saw the same auger on a guys truck looked like it had plastic on tank so we pulled the tag number then got close it ended being an old one lol.had a blast thanks to all that put it together.

We were out there @ noon Fri.
Wish I could have made the "rounds" to meet some new members, but the day just didn't warrent it, next time.

ok So here it goes bigdadd66 got me 3 new traps for Christmas I couldn't wait to go fishing and what weekend is that I start my season? On the morning of Jan 15th at -11 degrees. I hopped on the back of the sled with my son Maineduckhunter and arrived at our sight. Couldnt waot until the shack was up and that is where I spent the rest of the day. I did get a couple of times to check traps and of course maineduckhunter had to give a refresher course on how to check my trap. Later I hear this little voice yelling thinking uncle (mainduckhunter) was going to fast on the sled NOPE she was yelling GO FASTER FASTER !! This little 3 year old loved it ! So even though it was cold beyond compare I WILL BE BACK AND YOU THE NEW TRAP that I won Thank you Jay and everyone else who helped with the derby and for a good cause.
