Ricks bait shack.  Whitmore lake.
Even if the fishing is slow, I can always catch a buzz.

In Grand Rapids I go to Al n Bobs when I can and up at the cabin it is usually Jack's in Kalkaska.  I also like Grand Valley sporting goods in Allendale when I fish out that way even though they are more centered around archery.   Gilletes is very good as well just dont get down there very often only 2-3 times a year now.

Pilgrim Village in Cadillac. Better selection and better prices than the big box stores.

Have to agree on Pilgrims, dont get there too often though usually only when I stop by when headed home from Kalkaska or on way to Higgins.

Grand river bait and tackle has a amazing selection of ice jigs. Most are jammin jigs. Few halis and swedish pimples small selection of rods. Live bait is good. Cool colored wax worms. I bought chart ones and worked pretty good. Located on the corner of grand river and march. Hours are 8am to I think 6.
Haven't seen the bearded lady there all summer! :woot:

Knutson's also gets my vote.  Hugh selection of everything you would need and they are the guys that sell bait to most of the other shops around southern michigan.

I can remember barely being able to see in the minnow tanks standing on tip-toes
when my Dad took me to Gilletts and I am 52 years old. They always have the biggest shiners for pike

Nicest people I ever met. Last winter I couldn't find wigglers anywhere here in Allegan/Barry Counties and a friend of mine said we should try Gilletts, he too remembers going there as a young'n and is now in his 60s. They have the best selection of live bait all year round and a huge inventory of everything from ice shantys to marine parts.
