Your favorite mom and pop bait shop.
« on: Dec 19, 2010, 05:21 PM »
Grand river bait and tackle has a amazing selection of ice jigs. Most are jammin jigs. Few halis and swedish pimples small selection of rods. Live bait is good. Cool colored wax worms. I bought chart ones and worked pretty good. Located on the corner of grand river and march. Hours are 8am to I think 6.

There's Vern's where M66, M50 and M43 all come together. Not a ton of stuff there but you can find some basics. They have live bait as well.

Gilletts on Gun Lake
I can remember barely being able to see in the minnow tanks standing on tip-toes
when my Dad took me to Gilletts and I am 52 years old. They always have the biggest shiners for pike

Carl's market
corner of Lansing rd. and M13
they carry bait and a few odds and ends

Vernon Hardware (NAPA)
on M71 between Vernon and Bennington rd.'s
they have minnows and other bait, and a few jigs & things

Gillettes always has good bait. :)

Go there every winter to stock up...little disappointed that they don't have cornborers this year and they don't think they are getting any (didn't ask so don't know why) but they always have the best wigglers when most shops don't have or can't get ...except freeze-dried :P

When In Barry County... Al & Pete's in downtown Hastings is an all around great shop. Run by father and son Pete & Jeff Schantz. Good selection, great guys, super helpful. Lucky to have them a few blocks away from me.

I'm with Yog on this one if I'm going anywhere in that direction.  If I'm going north I'll hit Clems in town here for live bait.
