Bass - O - Rama attack of the clones
« on: Dec 18, 2010, 02:42 PM »
got out on a local small pond this am. Unoman showed up about 9 with his new Showdown 5.6 dual beam and a jig stick. i would of had my new showdown but donna wrapped it and said i can't use until after x-mas..DOH! >:( >:(  The unit is amazing on what it can do.

ok  on to the fishin report. i got there about 730 and had a flag 3 tilts into setting up. it didn't stop from about 8 to 10:30. 1 or 2 flags up most of the time. not much size, all fish from 14 oz to 1.8.

13 fish in total, all bass. no perch or bluegills.

karl jigged up a few more clones. the showdown zeroed in on the bottom 3' of the water column. the unit is so accurate that it showed 2 lines for his hali jig.  the jig and the hook on a 1" chain.  UNREAL!!

about 11:00 Karl left and the flags stopped totally. i was out of bait by then anyway..yee ha!!

But i did manage to jig up my PB on a jig, a 1.2 bass

here's a bunch of pics

and here's the biggest fish i have ver caught on a jig..woo hoo  ;D ;D

the clones attacked,, but they lost the battle..Buwah!!

Great job, Lenz!  Looks like a fun day out there!  I agree with Got Pike - the 5th pic from the top, with the reflection on the ice in the background, looks like you're standing on open water!   ;)  How thick was the ice, by the way?

Hali jig, perch imitation with a waxie on it.

The Showdown is the newer model with dual beam.  8 deg and 20 deg.  Now that Marcum bought them, they have made a few improvements with sensitivity, range, and zoom.  It can see down to 1/2 inch between fish, etc.

hali's are easier to find online...I think I have 20 different ones.  you can get them from one inch to 2.5 inch and different lengths of chain, which are easy to change up...youcan buy chains seperate if you want..

This is the one I was using.  Im sure Porter will recognize the VT perch jig on the other rod.
