So you are saying there's a chance! ;D  I'm going to be heading up to Waukee on December 16th, hoping to get on the ice.  Do you guys think Badger Creek will be ready by then?

I would say late this weekend or next weekend deffinetly should be ready. It seems like one of the first to freeze good is lost lake up at badger but that is deep water in spots.

You mean by Big Creek? I've been seeing more and more lakes with some decent ice. I was surprised to see Saylorville with a decent amount of ice even South of the mile long bridge. Won't be long, I'm calling Monday I'll be on the ice.

Checked Badger Creek Fri. AM about 2" along edge. Lake is completly iced over. Won't be long.

Fort Des Moines pond: About 90% covered.
Easter Lake is mostly covered, but a few birds are keeping a spot open on the South end.
Badger Creek: As far as I can tell, its 100% covered. Ice is around an inch as far as I can tell, but didn't drill any test holes.
Driving across the Sailorville bridge, Sailorville looks like it's 100% covered.
Lost Lake is completely open.
I didn't get to Big Creek.

It won't be long!

Big Creek was wide open this morning, there were at least eight boats out duck hunting as a matter of fact.

Any updates on central iowa ice; specifically Big Creek or Lost Lake? I'm taking Thursday off and might head up that way.
I'm on the South Side of Des Moines, though, so I could hit Easter Lake or something closer if Big Creek or Lost Lake aren't frozen. Pretty sure I'll be out Saturday too.

I drove up to lost lake today and saw 4 different guys fishing. Heading there tomorrow taking my 4 year old daughter on her first experience on the ice. It will be my maiden voyage of the year can't wait.
