« on: Oct 28, 2010, 10:30 PM »
so where do all you wisconsin guys get your ice fishing supplies, i know of scheels, gander mountain, fleet farm, cabelas. is there any where else you guys go? i want to try some other stores if there are any. local shops? i live near the green bay area and can't think of any local bait/tackle shops around here. i would much rather buy from these guys than big stores.

I do order stuff online... waiting on $70 worth of Fiska's jigs to show up at my door... probably today or tomorrow.  Other than that, mainly Cabela's, Gander, Fleet Farm... but I'm southeastern WI.  Can't really help w/ bait shops up by you.

I usually buy on line.

You could also check out a couple of the ice fishing shows that happen every winter.

I went to the St. Paul Ice Show last year,  it's hard to walk when all the ice fisherman are drooling on the floor.

Plus, you get to meet the reps and see the new product demonstrations.

Hope this helps,

Wiener

I hear ya on the loyalty to the local store thing. We've got a local guy that I'll buy jigs and bait from. When it comes to the spendier stuff (flasher, shacks, and augers) he just can't compete. I'll spend a little extra because he's local, but $50 higher on an auger? I have to spend my money wisely.

Big ticket items I must admit I go to Fleet, Scheels or Gander.  Most of my other supplies I get at the local shops here in Rapids and Plover.  Fin

Gander Mountain is my favorite place to go. They always the best ice fishing selection in the Appleton area in my opinion. Also Fleet Farm, The Sportsman, and Scheels are great ice fishing stores.
Ice is on the lake so we're goin' fishin'!

HIMO, what part of Milwaukee you from? I grew up in West Allis, and there was a bait shop at like 74(ish) and Lincolin. Wondered if you knew of it, or if it was even still there? That was all of 13 years ago so it may be gone. (wow I got old in a hurry)

i live around 68th & howard ave. I remember that bait shop. it is gone. now its a parking lot for the veterinary clinic. I used to fish up by you on Marsh-Miller lake. my buddy owns a log cabin on the island across from Cedar Inn resort. I deer hunt in Solon Springs which is 30 miles south of Superior.

Marsh Miller gets to be quite a zoo in the winter these days. Decent pan fish, but too many idiots

Fin,

Do you go to Bobber down in Plover?

IF Wayne don't have it, he will gladly order it for you.

They have good lively bait, and are not stingy with the info.

Usually Fleet Farm or Gander Mountain. Picked up some new jigs & lures at Gander Mountain the other day. They have there stuff out sooner than Fleet Farm.

Yah, I was to Fleet on Friday in Point.  Lot of empty shelves yet.  Usually they're right on the ball and are the first ones fully stocked.  Fin

I order most of my equipment online but will shop Farm n Fleet and Walmart as well. Gander Mountain is always a last resort for me. Only good thing about Gander is the selection, they screw you on prices most of the time. :-\

Locally I try to go to Rainbow home center and Bear Paw.  Otherwise Scheels and Gander in Eau Claire.  Just went to Scheels Saturday and loaded some stuff up.

What's Bear Paw like for pricing?
