To All of the Mass IS Members,

Sadly, the year has come to a close....the edges are gone and the Open Water is calling....

First, I would like to thank all of you for your generous comments on Jiggers thread...they are all greatly appreciated....

Hopefully, FullTmeDad will be joining me again next year as the "Senior Senator" of the MassIceShanty site....Rick took the year off and I look forward to his return...

I thoroughly enjoyed fishing with alot of the core group of guys and a few of the new guys on the site....this was certainly the year for growth on the Mass site...Ive been a member since 04 and have not seen such a large influx of new members....thats a good thing....While we entertained alot of posts from the newbies, we need to remember we were all newbies once, and we need to be open to sharing...and it does not have to involve posting on the threads..... PM's are a good way to meet,get comfortable with, and share with new members.

Our site posted some great experiences and great pictures....the elusive big Pike did dominate alot of the Topics and they were certainly beautiful to see....you guys did a great job....But the trout, Salmon, Bass, Pickeral, and Perch also had an enormous showing this year...We had a handful of IS Gatherings that were certainly enjoyable and a great way to meet up with members....new and old.....Hopefully, we will be able to do more of those gatherings next year and meet and greet once again....

Also, a hearty thanks to Don (HIMO) for covering for me when I was unavailable (fishing for extended periods of time with no internet)...Thanks Don

Lastly,

One of the highlites of my year was meeting Cam Reed. He is the 5 year old son of Josh Reed (NewBraintree).....Josh has introduced Cam to icefishing like no other....He reminds me of my 24 year old son Bryan at that age....Cam is a pleasure to watch...as he chases flags and jigs endlessly for the big ones....Jigger can attest to that!

We all need to keep in mind that Cam is sharing his experiences on IceShanty, and Dad is sharing posts with him....and it wont be long before Cam is reading posts himself....if not already....So, going into next year, alot of you guys out there need to keep that in mind when posting on this site......young guys like Cam are reading.....Need I say more?....

Heres to a great year and I look forward to meeting up with some of you on the Softwater...salt or fresh.....

sounds like a good year Karl, except we didn't get to fish together. Maybe open water? If not then definitly next year.

Say no more K......... Josh and Cam are examples of sportsmen we should ALL take after.........well said. Before the "post" key is pushed, maybe a little proof reading should be considered and think.....looking forward to fishing soft water with you at the Chu.....thanks again

Great job this year Karl and very well said. I plan on VT smallmouth fishing with everyone on this site except for Frozen this year

Well said Karl and thank you for the kind comments. You guys have all be great to Cam and have made a few long days very enjoyable for him. It is going to be funny to see him posting on here in a few years

Cam and I are taking the next two weeks off from fishing (per my wife's request..) But will be in Mashpee by the end of the month getting the boat ready.

That's a great pic Karl..........It looks like Cam is putting on a demonstration of the proper technique in using Indian Hill ice traps on the hardwater to other fishermen....

What can be said that hasn't been said already? Great Job everyone! It is ALWAYS a pleasure to fish with such a passionate group of fisherman where there is never a shortage of a great time, good food, and serious Ice Fishing on tap!

Ah... change in season, time to start playing with the VW toys and getting the rigs ready for some salty water! gotta love it... and always remember...

Good to know you all

Been a fun ,short and unproductive year for me but thats the way it goes.. get em next year. I still have a few days left chasing ice this year. Cam is a riot, and a real sportsman, wants nothing more than to be with the guys when out there, I saw his hands red, after getting them wet in the water and asked him are they cold .looked at me shrugged his shoulders and said nope, ya gotta love it. Thanks uno for taking care of the site, seem to know when it went far enough. Just bought a 14 foot starcraft hope to see yas on the soft water, Bryan

Here is to the end of another season.
I had a great year, and fished with lots of great guys. I can't wait to get together with all of you guys again. This year I fished more and at more places then ever. My first trip to Vermont, and Champlain since I was a kid. Thank you guys for making that possible.

Karl, you have done a great job keeping all of us in line!! You were there when not so nice things were going on, and there when great things were going on. You answered all of our questions with a positive answer and were VERY fair.

Open water is coming and I have already been pulling the Browns from the river. How many of you are gonna stay here through the open season? Or do you guys plan to venture to that other site?

I"M STAYING RIGHT HERE IF IT" OK!!!

I hope to fish with you guys on the open water. If anyone is interested in doing some river fishing for big Browns, let me know.
