I usually cook some burgers on the grill. my dad likes to change it up a bit. the last time we were out he had scallops with jumbo shrimp on wooden skewers.

Whatever you can cook on a Coleman 2-burner stove!

Bacon, egg, sausage and cheese for breakfast usually.
Burgers, fajitas, chicken parm, a pan of sausage, peppers, and onions. Stuff like that can be prepped and/or partially cooked in advance if you want to pack light or save time.

Since we're near the shore, there's definitely seafood on the menu for some. Crab cakes, blackfish cakes. Chowders, gumbos, filets. I'm organizing an event Sunday that will have some ninja ice chefs in attendance. Pics to follow.

My friend Ron will also be doing a big crock pot of chili. Along for the ride will be an AGM marine battery, and 500 watt inverter attached as an experiment. The plan is to unplug the crock from the house right before he leaves, and plug it back in when he first sets up. Anyone who loves math and wants to estimate how long he can serve hot chili from that setup is welcome to jump in. ;)

I've always kept it simple and brought cold sandwiches.  Once or twice I brought out some chili in a thermos.  A few weeks ago I was out with a guy who brought a grill and cooked burgers.  Man o man what a difference to have a real meal on the ice.  Well worth the effort.

Since I usually fish alone, no time to cook or room in the sled for food/stoves etc...  My son made up several pounds of jerky for me.  Great protein and I can pack them easily in my pocket.  That'll keep me going for most of the day.  That works for me under the circumstances.

Moose is good on the ice. I usually do chilli dogs,Dinty Moore beef stew,Hotdogs on the Heater,Burgers on the coleman are great as well. Might have to try the crab cakes this year I have an abundance of fresh crabmeat in the freezer from crab season this year. Maybe even try some fried Halibut got lots of that too.
Hot meals are the only way to go on cold days especially with a group of people. one guy leaves the others to watch his gear and fires up the grill or campfire and gets to cookin. Does wonders for warming everyone up and giving us a boost of energy. There have been days when we would have gone home much sooner without the hot food.

cheddar and jalapeno hot dogs, burgers, fresh kielbasa, habanero cheese, pepperoni, venison chili, venison steaks, etc. on long days.
always some beer and some kind of brandy/schnapps. ;D

A soup thermos full of Habitant brand Pea Soup & Ham, sticks to your ribs and the end product after an hour keeps you warm the rest of the day...a bit stinky though.  ;D

it never offends if you bring enough for everyone-then everyone can stink along  together... or just bring the dog and blame him. ;)2

Meaty chili sure hits the spot.

I also like to cook up a bunch of bacon and brats (cut them up after you grill) and throw it in a pot of baked beans.

Something simple in a pinch... grab some venison @ 3 lbs or your meat of choice, 2 boxes of rice a roni, onions, garlic, peppers tomato, mushrooms 2 cans of beef broth and a bottle (or 2 ) of beer... Dump it all in a pot on the camp stove and let it simmer stirring occasionally.. start it in the morning after you set ur tip-ups and it'll be done by lunch time, or whenever you're ready
