Yellow grubs in the meat, look like white spots inthe fillets...black spot is also a larval form of parasite. L. Manitoba perch are very clean, nothing in the fillets. Google the topic and you will come up with more info than one can read in en evening. :)

Firefighter is correct but when cooked there totally safe to eat.  The grubs I flick out with the tip of a fillet knife to make it look better for the wife and by the time they are battered up nobody knows the difference.

I flick the grubs into a baby food jar and save them for a tasty treat after a few weeks! :P

salt and pepper disease.
yes the perch in William lake do have the salt and pepper disease
the pepper or host parasite lives the the flesh of the host.
salt is the natural enzyme the host or fish produces to fight the parasite
the fish is safe to eat if u cook it properly but can have a gritty texture to it.
that was one reason bass were introduced into William lake to eat all the perch rather than trying to kill them all and harming the brown trout. ;)
