Problem putting a web address in post

I was trying to help out a fellow ice fisherman by posting a link to some jigs he was looking for, but when I tried to make it a click-able link it wouldn't post the name, so I tried just putting it up as a copy and paste address and it still wouldn't show up. Is there a problem with the site not recognizing it or is it the site policy not to allow sites that are not sponsors?
