I've had them cut the 8 lb. It's not a common occurance but it does happen.

It's a crap-shoot... more flags, but less of a chance to land that "Monster Fish"... :tipup:

Large fish can be landed on mono if played correctly, ive never used mono leader under 12lb so idk about that 6-8lb stuff... I watched my brother triple GDominy12 and i with flags and fish with 20lb stren mono leaders..including a 10 pounder right at dark.. I couldnt even come up with an explanatione ???

I lost two good fish last weekend on my tipups using 6lb. mono.  I am sure they were pike (no walleye in that lake).  I was trying different configurations for pike to see what the best setup was.  So, I guess I am saying yes, it's quite possible a pike will bite it off if you hook one.  But I guess you never really know.  A buddy of mine caught an 18 lb pike on 4 lb line jigging for crappies.  Insane, but true!  ;D
