dos anyone use Fat Heads for Brookie Bait ? Do you like smelts ,shiners or fatheads ?

all the brookies i've caught through the ice were either on shiners, or pin smelt.

It is a small shiner. I do not know why they call them fat heads.

Yeah I was going to jig with them . Talked to Ron ,He said He knows a lake 1/2 hr.away that has lots of trout. Sounds like fun to me.

The ones I have look just like a shiner.

The orange one are rosies, med. shiners,and fat heads.

depends on what kind of bait fish are in the pond u are fishing on if keep ur trout cut them open and find out what they been munching on.  thats what i do one pond i fish i use dace for trout and the other i have to use shiners.  its funny but try to match ur bait to what the fish are used to and u may get more stikes  :tipup: :tipup:

I believe bringing bait in from out of state is illegal.

      the law reads it is illeagal to import baitfish or smelts into the state of maine.    4 sale or no sale
