The northern part would be a great start, Winter months would be my suggestion Just kidding. I'm sure there will be many opinions on this question, and I really can't answer it. I'd consider Maine, New York, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin etc.

Apparently you guys don't have as many invasive species as we do in West Michigan. I haven't seen perch this big since the 80's.
dont know where you are in relation to lake michigan but that big ole lake has some of the biggest perch that i have seen. I was a creel clerk for the INHS for a season and weighed and measured tons of perch and seen lots out on the IDNR and WDNR gill netters
