Brought home all my suckers and shiners yesterday, put them in my box at a pond. Full days worth of work between transporting them from the lakes to the box and collecting all my traps etc...picked a nice day to do it. Weather was nice instead of freezing conditions.

Ended up doing well for suckers and ok for shiners. .Still not done shiner trapping, hitting a few other places now more or less to see how these areas produce.

Got enough bait for the winter and can relax a bit now before ice. Wont be long now.

JIGGIN.

That's better than not having anything in your traps... Good job man...I had about 2 dozen in one trap and 3 in the other...

That spot I told you about I usually get a dozen to 40 per pull could be where your setting them and with the weather being warm they will school up more when it gets colder.

Alright, after reading all this stuff about catching bait, I decided I'm also gonna have a whirl at it. I picked up a couple of traps yesterday, got my hands on a plastic 55 gallon drum for a tank, picked up a cheaper aquarium filter (for now, will get a much better one if I start doing well) now all I have to do is catch some bait.

Are you guys setting your traps right on the bottom or suspending them at various depths, like a foot or two off the bottom?

Rick right on the bottom and look for small ponds near office buildings or industrial parks like the size of a skating rink. These kind of ponds are by far my best producers. I just use fresh bread but last night i used elbo macaroni heard it was the nuggets i will post how i made out with the pasta.

Mark call me tonight

I was getting between 27 and 60 baits with bread tonight with the macaroni I got 28 baits.
I dont know if it was the colder weather or the fact that when I use bread I use five slices and whenever I have a good pull with bread I have bread in the trap still. I think when they eat all the bread the smart ones swim out with the macaroni they cant eat it as its in a mesh bag to many variables to narrow it down for sure. What do you guys think ???

Bigbait .....I also have dace in large size like Uno...but he put his post up first..so you can trade with Uno if he wants.  As for posting pictures, get an account with Photobucket and put your pictures in there first.  Then follow the link
