Where to go...
« on: Feb 19, 2009, 10:01 AM »
I'm new to ice fishing, with kids (4-ages 5-14), and would like some advice on where to go. I live near Mt. Tom, and have fished at the Rt 5 end of the Oxbow once. The area out by the marina looked very crowded and active, with 4 wheelers being ridden around, etc. I'm hoping for something a bit quieter. I'd like to expand my experience, and should be able to try a couple of places this weekend, if anybody can send me a good tip. Looking on Google maps, it appears that there are ponds aplenty in the area, just don't know where to start - Pequot (Hampton Ponds State Park), Spectacle, or another one nearby on the Manhan.
I'm not looking to grab any record fish, just enough to keep the kids happy - perch and calico are fine, anything bigger would be a bonus.  ;)
Appreciate any info anyone wants to share... :)
post or email me at yahoo.

Thanks,
Sometimes it's not about the fish, but about the fishin'
