]new to the shanty but been in great wyo for 36 yrs. travel all over wyo fishin any time of yr. fish the gorge, fontinelle, big sandy, the green river religously. went to boysen derby and pathfinder derby had a great time. its nice to read the reports of all the dedicated tightliners!

Just my 2 cents, Little talked me into trying minnow-threading, I never had done it and was always having minnows stolen and losing the fish, but I went from that to near 100% hookup. Peculiar thing over on Ocean though...I'd get a flag trip and apparently the wally would kill the minnow then eat it a few minutes later. I'd wait till they started spooling off line then I'd set the hook. Don LT ISM

I have not yet i keep forgetting the needles. Can you use a single hook or does it have to be a treble hook?

ive been using small trebles.ive been having about a 90% catch rate with them.

I use a very small treble hook and thread it in just behind the bony part of the head so it ends up sitting right on the minnows nose. That probably has something to do with the near 100% hookup rate. I bring the line out just behind the dorsal fin and rig it so the minnow has about 6 inches of free line. hope this helps...or stop by and see Little and he'll show ya his rig. Don

I use those two prong hooks. they are hard to find, but then there are two prongs pointing up instead of one, think it gives a better chance of hooking something solid

Ok I will break the trebles back out. I was having really good luck with the owner single hooks that are red and have a glow bead. So I replaced all my treble hooks with those but I will defiantly try them out this weekend. And I am getting closer to 100 posts it won't be too long.

speaking of peculiar.as I stated in another thread, the last few years I have gotten lazy and just hook my minnow in the dorsal fin.well over at ocean this last weekend a few times when I made my rounds to check minnows I would find a few of them to be bitten in half right up to the hook.now thats some smart fish.I am definitely going back to threading.

I'm headed to Little's fer minners and I'm going to be doing a lil threading this evening...I'll try to accomodate you RR...have to pick up the pieces of the Fremont Lake trip that was on for today, South Pass black ice, blowing snow, fog, zero visibility.
