Stove fuel = White gas
« on: Feb 14, 2009, 12:28 PM »
Obviously I haven't bought any fuel for my catalytic heater in a while, I about did a back flip when I saw a gallon was priced at $9 a gallon.  Can you buy this stuff bulk, from local fuel distributors?  I remember as a kid a Texaco station in Steamboat Springs used to sell it, dad used to buy 5 or more gallons every summer.  Course that was 35-40 years ago....

Good question but if you haven't bought it in that long of a time to notice the price jump would it be worth it to buy 5 gallons.......Just my 2 pennies

A good point!   In this case, up until this winter, I haven't been stationed anywhere cold enough to need or use it(since 1995). If I had a dollar for everytime the Mrs has asked why I keep dragging all of the ice fishing gear with us, I wouldn't worry about $9 stove fuel! :)

Yeah, the old type can be a bit dramatic to light.
