fishing around athabasca/lac la biche
« on: Feb 01, 2009, 04:33 PM »
 hello albertans,

have been through this country working...driving a fruit truck  8) but would like to go back for pleasure.  what lakes could you all recommend and what could a guy expect to catch?  any cabins/lodges that stay open all winter?

also as a side, is there any fishing available on the athabasca river?  saw some people trying, but nothing caught...the river seemed low when i was there though.

there are alot of lakes in that area you have targeted, depending upon what species of fish you are after; you can get walleye, pike, perch, whitefish, goldeye, burbot, or rainbow trout. as for lodges that stay open all year i don't know; however there are outfitters in the area that i'm sure you can find by doing some research through "travel alberta". and yes there is some pretty good fishing for big walleye on the athabasca river as well. hope this helps.
