Lake James, Snow, Jimmerson
« on: Jan 25, 2009, 02:23 PM »
Has anybody been fishing any of these lakes? I was thinking of heading up there next week? North snow, Sowels Bay, Dockesiders, Tammerack? Any info would be helpfull?  Also do you know if you can park at pokagon State park and walk out on the ice to JaMES?

I was on James @ Docksiders last friday and caught about 30 fish.  Went home with 5 keepers.  :(  The bite was extremely light.  Docksiders has been getting a lot of pressure.  Hope this helps.

If you pay to get into pokagon, I don't know why you can't walk out and fish.  You can fish there in the summer months, so I would think ice fishing is no different.  Don't take my word for it though...call the park office.  They could tell you.  Going out from the potowatomi inn could be intriguiging......espe cially in the deeper water between the humps.....
I'm not getting skunked, I'm just eliminating water

Went up and did the toboggan with wife and kids for about 2hours and then drove over to the cottage and saw people out in Krybom Bay and the pond. A couple of guys were out on snow in the channels and when we left I saw some out on Jimmerson. I drilled about twelve holes and fished for about 45 min. and my wife said" are you ready?" What? >:( I'm glad I have a gas auger cause I would have been Hot! But we all know who won this deal right. After all I am married. I left all my stuff up there so I would have to go back next weekend to fish and get my stuff. Fish were not bitting either. Maybe next time! ;D

wife said" are you ready?"

Rule #1:  The wife can not travel in the same vehicle on a day when there is the possibility that fishing may occur.

Fishing outings can and will be shortened.  What happens if you were catching a lot of big fish?  Just pack up and go because the wife is ready?

Real fisherman don't yield to the weather.

Hey guys! I'm headed up to Lake James and wondered how much water is on the ice. I'm setting tip-ups and gonna try a little jiggin. I am going to be in the upper
basin across for Pokagon's beach. Right before you go into Snow. Any reports would be great. I'm toting the kid and dog along with me.

Headed that way tomorrow. I'll be alright. Don't know about the dog though. She likes open water. Anyone else heading that way?
