"This is a very dangerous fishing area, said Price, "sometimes we venture 6-8 foot waves to get out, I would not recommend anyone navigate to this area without a professional guide."
haha - my secret spots all have about ten-foot swells and whitecaps all the time, too. and the ice is very unstable. wolves and bears out there, too. don't dare venture there.
Lloyd Bull netted this 72 lb mackinaw in Great Bear Lake, Northwest Territories, Canada in 1995. It is recognized as the all-tackle world record lake trout by the Canadian National Fish Registry, the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, and the International Game Fish Association. It was caught while trolling, on a Huskie Devle spoon with a single, barbless 10/0 hook. Bull was using a 30 lb monofilament leader attached to 27 lb lead-core line. The monster fish was netted shortly before midnight, August 19, 1995. It was brought to shore, measured, weighed, photographed and amazingly, successfully revived and released. Bull recounts that in the 3 1/2 hours prior to landing the record, his fishing partner Eddie House, and himself, hooked more than 30 fish, weighing 18 to 38 lbs. The record was caught at the same end of the same reef that Bull's previous 56 1/2 lb all-tackle record lake trout was caught. Bull claims to have hooked, but failed to land, even larger fish in Great Bear Lake. The mount is a replica.(Image removed from quote.)
I thought the world record lake trout came out of Great Bear Lake in Northern Alberta?
Lol, Great Bear Lake isn't in Alberta...it's way, way north of Alberta...
